Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 12, 2026
MyKidRoute LLC ("MyKidRoute," "we," "us," or "our") provides a family coordination platform that helps families arrange and verify school dismissal, pickups, carpools, activities, and rides for their children. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website at mykidroute.com, our mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
1. Who this policy covers
The Services are used by several types of people: parents and legal guardians who register accounts and manage their children's transportation and pickups; children whose information is provided by their parents or guardians; drivers and coaches who provide services through the platform; and school staff who coordinate dismissal. This policy describes our practices for all of them.
2. Information we collect
Account and contact information. Name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address, and password when you register.
Children's information. Because our Services exist to coordinate the safe transportation and pickup of children, parents and guardians provide information about their children, which may include first and last name, grade, school, photo, approved pickup contacts, and pickup or dropoff locations. We collect this information only from the parent or guardian who holds the account, and we use it solely to provide the Services.
Location information. When a ride or pickup is active, we collect location information from drivers and, where enabled, from the app to provide live tracking, navigation, and arrival estimates.
Verification information. For drivers and coaches, we collect information needed to run background checks and confirm eligibility. Background checks are performed by a third-party screening provider, and we receive the results of those checks.
Payment information. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our systems; we receive limited transaction and payout details needed to operate the Services.
Usage and device information. We collect information about how you interact with the Services, along with device identifiers and log data, to keep the Services secure and reliable.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Services;
- Match ride and pickup requests, dispatch drivers, and enable live tracking and verification at handoff;
- Verify identity and eligibility, including background checks for drivers and coaches;
- Process payments and driver or coach payouts;
- Send you account, ride, pickup, and verification messages by push notification, email, and SMS;
- Protect the safety and security of families, drivers, and the platform;
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. SMS messaging and consent
With your consent, we send transactional SMS messages related to your account, your child's rides and pickups, and one-time verification codes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and you can get help by replying HELP. Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Information sharing with subcontractors who support the Services (for example, a messaging provider that delivers the SMS on our behalf) is limited to what is necessary to provide those services.
5. When we share information
We share information only as needed to run the Services and as described here. We do not sell personal information.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
- Between platform participants as needed for a ride or pickup. For example, a driver assigned to a ride receives the information necessary to complete and verify that ride, and school staff coordinating dismissal receive the information necessary to manage it.
- Service providers. We share information with vendors who process payments, run background checks, deliver messages, provide mapping, and host and secure the Services, limited to what they need to perform their function.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of families, drivers, or the public.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred subject to this policy.
6. Children's privacy
The Services are designed for use by parents and guardians, not directly by children. We do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts. Information about a child is provided by, and remains under the control of, the child's parent or guardian, who may review, update, or delete it, or request that we delete it, by contacting us. We use children's information only to provide the Services and do not use it for marketing.
7. Your rights and choices
You may access and update your account information in the app at any time. You may opt out of SMS by replying STOP and manage push notifications in your device settings. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws, including the right to access, correct, or delete your information.
Account deletion. You may delete your account directly in the MyKidRoute mobile app (Account → Security → Delete Account), or by visiting mykidroute.com/delete-account without the app. The web page is the option required by Google Play for users who have uninstalled the app. When you delete your account:
- Removed immediately: Your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, passwords, and authentication credentials are permanently removed. Your children's names, photos, medical notes, and emergency contacts are anonymized. Your authorized pickup contacts' names and phone numbers are anonymized. Your account becomes inaccessible and you will be logged out of all devices.
- Retained for legal compliance: Certain records are retained in anonymized form as required by law:
- Financial records (7 years): Payment transactions, driver payouts, payout line items, and cancellation fees are retained as required by IRS recordkeeping rules. These records contain transaction amounts and dates but not your personal identification information.
- Ride and safety records (7 years): Completed ride records, incident reports, safety events, and child handoff logs are retained to satisfy child safety recordkeeping obligations. Your personal identification is anonymized in these records.
- Consent records: Records of parental consent provided under COPPA are retained as required by law.
- Driver compliance records (3 years): If you were a driver, your background check documents, certifications, and duty session records are retained for the period required by Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities regulations.
If you are unable to delete your account through the app, you may contact us at the address below and we will process your request within 45 days.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. The specific retention periods that apply when you delete your account are described in Section 7 above. When personal information is no longer needed, we take steps to delete or anonymize it. Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely for operational and analytical purposes.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
